Refer to Applying for Graduation
The Commencement ceremony will be held at the American Bank Center Arena and lasts for approximately 2 hours. For date & time, refer to Homepage
Men and women should wear appropriate dress attire i.e. business casuals under their regalia. In addition, graduating students must wear the official University black cap and gown in order to participate in the Commencement ceremony.
The cap and gown set are available for purchase at Islander Grad Fair. The University Bookstore does carry try-ons so that students can select the right size. Please contact the B&N University Bookstore for pricing of grad gear at (361)825-2603. Cords, medallions and stoles will be distributed to students at various ceremonies and presentations during the week of commencement.
Bachelor recipients wear their tassels on the right side, and Master and Doctorate recipients wear their tassels on the left side. The ritual of bachelor's degree candidates shifting the tassel from right to left marks the conferring of one's first university degree. Other regalia, such as stoles, cords, etc. are to be worn over the top of your gown. University staff will be available to help those students who need robing assistance.
No prior reservation for seating is available.
You must arrive at the American Bank Center Arena no later than one hour before the ceremony is set to begin.
We recommend that your guests arrive at the American Bank Center Arena early to avoid any potential parking issues and to secure appropriate seating. Doors open 1 hour prior to the commencement start time. Limited seating is available on the arena floor for those with limited mobility.
Graduates should report to the robing room in the American Bank Convention Center. Volunteers will assist those students who arrive late.
