Virtual Commencement Frequently Asked Questions

The TAMU-CC virtual commencement will be a celebration and recognition of our spring 2020 and summer 2020 graduates through an interactive website. The website will feature videos from the University President, A&M System Board of Regents representative, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, deans, and Alumni President. There will also be a section with a filter that allows graduates, family, and friends to look for their graduate's personalized slide.

The virtual commencement will take place Saturday, August 15, 2020.

There will be a virtual commencement interactive website for each ceremony. 

No. All spring and summer 2020 graduates that apply for graduation by Monday, July 20, 2020, 11:59 PM CST, will be included. Unfortunately, due to data collection and processing time, any graduate that applies after July 20, 2020, will not be featured in the virtual ceremonies. 

Graduates will receive an email with instructions on how to submit their photos, phonetic name recording, and personal statement.

Graduates that have already purchased regalia may prefer to wear a cap and gown for their photo. If you did not order or plan to order regalia, you are encouraged to wear business professional attire.

Graduates are encouraged to use natural lighting. Photos and personal statements must be appropriate for an academic audience to be included.

For graduates that do not log in to the data collection website, a basic slide with the available information will be created (e.g. Name, Degree, Major).

No, slide designs are uniform and created for the graduates. Graduates only need to submit a photo, phonetic name recording, and a personal statement.

Graduates will receive an email with instructions on how to submit their phonetic name recording. Each ceremony will include the reading of our graduates' names in recognition of your accomplishment.

Further information about accessing and sharing the ceremony will be shared with students soon.

Graduates from the Spring and Summer 2020 will have an opportunity to walk the stage in December 2020 or May 2021 Commencement ceremonies, as circumstances permit.

Though Commencement will occur virtually, the Islander Alumni Association will still be making leis available for pick-up! Keep the Islander tradition strong by jazzing up your photos and Grad day celebrations.

Pre-sale orders will stay open through Friday, July 10th at 3:00 pm. Leis will not be available for purchase after this date. Leis must be picked up in-person on Friday, August 14th. Specific pick-up instructions will be provided directly to purchasers via email.

There are no refunds for graduation applications. The graduation fee is associated with costs for providing services related to graduation (such as diplomas), not the ceremony itself.

The Colleges are currently working on the hooding and pinning ceremony plans for August. As soon as details are available they will be provided to graduates and posted on the commencement website.

The commencement team is currently working on plans for a Diploma Drive-Thru Parade for summer graduates if conditions permit; however, no details are available at this time. Details will be emailed to graduates as soon as they are available. 

Spring 2020 graduates who participated in the Drive-Thru Parade received their Latin honors cords during the parade. All other spring 2020 graduates were mailed their Latin honors cords with their printed diploma. Summer 2020 graduates will be mailed their Latin honors cords.
